A school construction programme
An innovative educational teaching

"In Espoir sans Frontières, we believe in sensitisation,in enlightenment, in education... We believe in these children who will be the hope of tomorrow and their Community and Country's future."

Children at school.
Parents at a meeting.

Therefore we rally in favour of all shape of education:
School , profesional, family or community teaching...
For children who do not go to school because of poverty, we develop individual school sponsorings in relation with french families to support school fees and we favour incomes for schools to look after buildings and to buy primary school stationeries.
Espoir sans Frontières and the school contruction in the northern Benin, in rural disadvantaged areas, it is a reality which inserts a teaching method from the daily local life.

Thus, three schools of three classes with about thousand pupils were built in most-remote villages with the philosophy of "Child-to-child" method and with self-financing the plantation of mangos or kitchen gardens.

Those schools made contact with some french schools to promote cultural exchanges and to learn the difference from childhood.

  Child-To-Child Method.

The aim is to allow children and teenagers to play an active and responsible role within their community, and by doing themselves health and development actors, for us, for their families and their circle.

This method is based on some fundamental ideas:

*   almost everywhere in Africa, older children take care of the youngers. The approach Child-to-Child leans on what those children already do by helping the youngers, but it brings a training to make the action more efficient, easier, and still attractive.

*  Health is everybody's buisness and not only  profesionnals' one. Children are as able as adults to acquire basic notions to protect their health and their brothers' one with the pleasure to put what they learn into practice.

* The Child-to-Child method deals with simple things that everybody can understand. The subject comes from a local problematic found by the children:
diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, cough, little injuries... The nurse who treats suggests solutions which inserts hygiene and disinfection notions.

* With new knowledges, the teacher and his class go to the village to pass the received information to those who want it. We have to stress an important involvment from the mothers, delighted and proud to see their children speaking in public and who realise the importance of education.
